We put trust in people every day, regardless of whether we realize it or not. When we drive, we trust others on the road to drive with due care and attention so they don't harm us. When we ride the bus, we trust the bus driver to drive us safely to our destination. When we fly, we trust a pilot who we have never met to take off and land without any glitches. When we go to a restaurant, we trust that our food has been prepared safely and carefully. We trust that salespoeple and store clerks will help us find us what we need, at the best price possible. We trust countless people with our lives, our safety, our health, our well-being, our money, and sometimes our hearts. And yet the ones closest to us are the ones who have the power to hurt us the most.
